Visit Of Worthy DGP, A&N Islands in North & Middle Andaman to Review the Preparedness of Police for General Election-2019

Port Blair, Mar 29: In view of the forthcoming General Election, 2019 Mr. DeependraPathak, IPS, DGP, A & N Islands visited North & Middle Andaman alongwith Mr. Vijay Singh, IPS, DIGP (Intelligence) and Mr. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP (Traffic & Security) between 25/03/2019 and 27/03/2019 to review the preparedness of Police for the forthcoming General Election-2019. During the visit worthy DGP, A&N Islands visited various polling booths and Police Stations in N & MA District.

In the interaction with staff, the DGP emphasized on the role of police to ensure free and fair election. He also mentioned that the conduct of the police staff should be impartial. The staff was briefed about the importance of regular checking on the road, jetties and helipads to curb the use of illegal means. He mentioned that the staffs of isolated booths need to be extra vigilant during the movement and also during the polling. The DGP directed the district SP and SDPOs to have a dynamic picketing scheme in place to maintain an element of surprise during checking, said superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman in a press note.
