Wildlife Offender nabbed from Middle Andaman

Port Blair, July 19: Acting on a tip-off, the forest officials of Middle Andaman Forest Division nabbed a 32 year old resident of Goalpahar while committing a wildlife offence on 16.07.2020(Thursday) at 1140 hrs.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Lalita Singh, Range Officer Rangat, a team led by Mr. Habib Mir, Forester, Beat Officer Goalpahar caught Mr. Tapan Kumar Das, S/o Kamal Das red-handed in possession of 01 male barking Deer (Muntiacus muntjak)  weighing 13.3 kg, which is a protected species under Schedule-III of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The accused was arrested and a wildlife offence case was registered for violating the sections 9, 39, 50, 51 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

It is one of the successful operations carried out by the Middle Andaman Forest Division in which the culprit was caught red-handed at the crime scene itself.

The entire operation took place under overall direction and supervision of Mr. Satyaprakash Singh, IFS, DFO(MA). The DFO, Middle Andaman has appealed to the general public to pass any credible and relevant information regarding Wildlife/Forest Offences to the nearest Beat Office/ Range Office or on the below mentioned Phone numbers.
