Port Blair, Apr 29: Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad member Bambooflat along with Pradhan Hopetown met CE, APWD and apprised him about the problems being faced by the general public.
She raised the issue of water shortage in rural areas and that one water project at Hopetown (Nimbu Bagicha) can be expedited so that the crisis during summer can be managed.
To cope with the current situation, she requested him to supply water through tankers wherever required urgently. She also asked for the improvement of the road from Wimberlygunj to Mannarghat and Bambooflat to Chunnabatta at the earliest.
She further requested to construct a water storage reservoir in the Bambooflat area so that at the peak of summer, water can be utilized for public use. The CE assured to do the needful at the earliest.
