4 Shoplifters Arrested; 2 Mobile Phones Recovered

Port Blair, Jan 29: The special staff of Police Station Pahargaon has solved 2 cases of theft from mobile shops and arrested 4 persons including one juvenile for theft and buying the stolen property.
On 18/01/19, an FIR No. 07/19 u/s 380 IPC was registered by Bibash Mondal, resident of Bathubasti wherein he reported that an expensive mobile phone was stolen from his shop on 17/01/19 by some unidentified person. SI Pritam Behari and SI P.Jeevan along with PC/S.N.Pathak and PC/Rajesh launched a manhunt to trace the accused.
Based on the intelligence received from other police stations and analysis of CCTV camera footage, the team zeroed in on one Juvenile in Conflict with Law. Later, three other accomplices also were detained. It was found that they used to operate as a gang& had indulged in shoplifting of mobiles in various shops in the city. The stolen mobiles were then sold on discount. Based on their confession, the stolen mobile phones were recovered and all the three adult accused persons were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The investigation was conducted under the guidance of Insp. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Pahargaon under the overall supervision of Mr. Nishant Gupta, SDPO South Andaman, as said in a press release by Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
