Adhyaksh, SA ZP requests LG to Introduce Bengali Medium in GSSS, Bathubasti

Port Blair, Oct 25: Mr. Sanjib Kumar Mandal, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman has appraised the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands that a lone Bengali medium school viz., Govt. Senior Secondary Rabindra Bangla Vidyalaya is presently imparting education in Bengali medium in the entire vicinity of Port Blair region which is not at all adequate considering the fact that Bengali language is the second most widely spoken of the 22 scheduled languages of India. It is also most widely spoken language in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
It is pertinent to mention here that most of the Bengali origin students especially residing in remote areas are forced to travel a long distance to avail education in Govt. Senior Secondary Rabindra Bangla Vidyalaya.
Accordingly, he has requested the Lt. Governor to introduce Bengali medium in Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bathubasti to resolve the long pending demand.
