Port Blair, Nov 26: As part of its Alcoholism awareness campaign, Humane Touch, a NGO organised an Alcoholism Awareness cum Clotheshare program at South Creek, Gram Panchayat Sundergarh, Baratang on 24 November 2018.
Br. A Abdul Aziz, Executive Member, Humane Touch welcomed the gathering and highlighted the social activities done by the NGO.
Mr. Biju Gurudasan, Pradhan, Gram Panchay at Sundergarh shared his views on alcoholism and appreciated the works of Humane Touch.
Mr. Alagar Swamy, Zilla Parishad member in his address highlighted the increase in suicide cases due to alcohol.
Br. N Abdul Aziz, President, Humane Touch in his keynote address shared about the present scenario of our island due to alcoholism presenting the facts and figures on the flow of alcohol in our islands and problems caused to the families and societies. Nearly 280 villagers participated in this program.
Br. M Yousuf, Executive member, Humane Touch introduced the Clotheshare initiative to the villagers. Volunteers of Humane Touch distributed cloths to the villagers. The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by P K Moosa, Executive Member, Humane Touch.
