Port Blair, May 27: To mark the 158th Birth Anniversary of Viswakabi Rabindranath Thakur and the 120th Birth Anniversary of Revolutionary poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a cultural get together was organised by Aditya Natya Academy (an eminent theatre group in Islands) on 26.05.2019 (Sunday) at 06:30 PM in its premises, 31 M.G. Road, Middle Point, Port Blair. Sri Asutosh Karmakar, the president and Sri Dipak Kumar Saha, Ex-Vice President of ANA paid floral tributes to portraits of the poets. The programme commenced with Rabindra Sangeet “HEI NUTAN DEKHA DIK ARBAR” as the opening song presented by the Academy members.
The Biography of the poets was elaborated by Mr. Chittaranjan Roy (Retired teacher of A&N Administration). A couple of dances, songs and recitations were presented by the Academy members and local artists. A musical dance feature titled “BYATHAR DAAN” compiled by Smt. Kaveri Debsharma and directed by Smt. Sujata Roy Chowdhury was presented by Nandalal Debsharma, Sampa Sarkar, Torsha Das, Mina Mondal and Sujata Chakraborty. The programme was conducted by the General Secretary, Anadiranjan Bhattacherjee and concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Avijit Sarkar.
