ANC conducts various activities to celebrate Navy Week – 2018

Port Blair, Dec 03: As part of Navy week celebrations, the Naval Component of Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted various activities in the Island, recently.
During the festivities, an Ex-Servicemen Mela was conducted at Dweepika Auditorium on 1st of December 2018; Children from six different schools were taken to Ross Island; Presentations and interactive sessions were conducted in five schools of the region to promote Navy as a career.
To mark the celebrations, Naval personnel visited various orphanages namely Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram, Nirmala Shishu Bhavan, Pranab Kanya Sangh and Ram Krishna Mission located at Port Blair and handed over donations received from civilians and defence personnel for the noble cause. The Naval fraternity also undertook ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ at these orphanages that included cleaning of surroundings, rectification of electrical defects and painting of walls, doors and railings.
Further, in consonance with ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ a cleanliness drive was organized by the crew of two ships of the Indian Navy at Corbyn’s Cove on 1st of December 2018 to inculcate habit of cleanliness amongst people of all walks of life. Navy Day is observed on 4 December every year to celebrate the achievements and role of the naval force.
