Port Blair, May 10: Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) Junglighat, Port Blair, celebrated 159th Birth Day of “BISWAKABI RABINDRANATH THAKUR” on the Thursday 9th May 2019. Morning a Rally was taken at 6.30 AM from Junglighat Municipal Commercial Complex to the Statue of Rabindranath Tagore, Marina Park. Smt. Anusua Devi, Chairperson of APWD offered floral tribute to Rabindranath Thakur’s statue at Marina Park. Mr. Tapas Kumar Das, President of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), welcomed the gathering. Members of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) Sung “He Nutan Dekha Dikh Aar Bar”. The guests were sharing their knowledge by speech with the gathering. The programme was concluded at 8.15 AM with the vote of thanks by Mr. Soumen Home Chowdhury, the General Secretary of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), Junglighat, Port Blair.
Evening at 6.00 PM a cultural programme was held on Auditorium of ASI, Port Blair. Mr. Tapas Kumar Das, President of ASA welcomed the gathering. Mr. Debashish Ray, Doordarshan and All India Radio Artists of Kolkata & Tripura, Music Teacher and Examiner of Prachin Kala Kendra was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the programme by giving floral tributes to the BISWAKABI RABINDRANATH THAKUR and opened a Souvenir-4th edition “Rabindra Arghya-2019” which was published by Academy on this occasion. A Cultural Programme was started with a song “He Nutan Dekha Dikh Aar Bar” sung by members of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), after the song one by one musical student, teachers performed there song and recitation. Mr. Debashish Ray handed over the special prize to 22 students, performers on the occasion of Song, Dance and Instruments. The Chief Guests shared his knowledge by song and speech with the gathering. The programme concluded at 8:30PM with the vote of thanks by Mr. Soumen Home Chowdhury, the General Secretary of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), Junglighat, Port Blair, in a press release General Secretary, ASA said.
