Port Blair, May 10: ‘BAAKPROTIMA’, the only RNI-registered Bengali Little Magazine/Periodical published from Andaman & Nicobar Islands celebrated the 158th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur through a cultural get-together held in its premises ‘Barnomaala’ at Junglighat yesterday evening. A group of local cultural personalities participated in the get-together.
The programme commenced with Rabindrasangeet (songs of Rabindranath) as the opening song presented by Mr. Raisuddin Gayen (ex-member of the Programme Committee, SZCC, Thanjavur). Rabindrasangeet was also presented by Smt. Pushpa Bhattacharya. Rabindrakabita (poems of Rabindranath) was presented by Smt. Kaberi Debsharma and Mr. Nandalal Debsharma (ex-member, Programme Committee, EZCC, Kolkata). A discourse on ‘Relevance of Rabindranath Thakur in contemporary A&N Islands’ was held which was participated by Mr Chittaranjan Roy (retired Teacher of A&N Administration), Mr. Anadi Ranjan Bhattacharjee (ex-member of Programme Committee, EZCC, Kolkata), Mr. Sandeep Das (Bengali Cultural Activist), Mr. Raisuddin Gayen and other.
The entire programme was coordinated by Mr. Anadiranjan Biswas, Editor, Baakprotima and the Governing Council Member, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, in a press release Proprietor, Baakprotima said.
