Port Blair, May 03: Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands, has arrested two drug peddlers. On 01/05/2019 and 02/05/2019 a team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS, SI V.Siva Kumar, SI T.Dilla Rao, Constable Hari Krishna Yadav, and ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur, Constable Chandran, Rajendran, N. Thangaraj was constituted. Based on credible information a raid was conducted by PS CCS raiding team and apprehended, two persons namely Bappa Das R/o. Joda Kilan, Garacharma and Barun Sarkar R/o. Bhatu Basti near Ganesh Temple and recovered 2.210 Kgs of illicit ganja from their possession. Barun Sarkar is a drug peddler and earlier cases have been registered against him. An amount of Rs. 29,000/- was also seized from his personal possession. The illicit ganja was seized on the spot and accused were arrested under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. The entire raid was commanded by Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS and Dy. SP(CID) under the overall supervision of Sh. Manoj.C, IPS, SP(CID).
The CID & Central Crime Station (CCS) units of Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti social activity and keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832, & 9531856294. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret, in a release Manoj.C, IPS, SP(CID), Andaman & Nicobar Islands said.
