Central Crime Station Seizes illicit Liquor & IMFL

Port Blair, Feb 26: Continuing its drive against bootlegging and contraband substance the Central Crime Station Police on 25/02/19 after gathering intelligence regarding sale and storage of illicit liquor in Port Mout area. Based on tip-off a police raiding team comprising of SI S. Siva Kumar, Police Constable S. Baroi, H.K. Yadav, P.K. Mondal, Bhaskar Rao, Lady HG Seema Kujur headed by Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, Station House Officer, PS CCS searched the entire stretch of Port Mout Jungle and found two tins containing lahan (fermented wash) kept under the tree. The team has destroyed two tins there itself and on further search found one person hiding something in the bushes and later was intercepted and arrested and accordingly seized one plastic jerricane containing 10 litres of illicit liquor hidden in the bush from Ganesh Chander Nath R/o Port Mout.   Earlier on 24th and 25th of February, five more cases have been registered against T Muttaiah. R/o Prem Nagar near Kali Mandir, Ranjan R/o School Line, Om Kumar Thapa R/o fisherish jetty, V Selvam R/o Sisty Nagar and P. Kumar R/o Dignabad was also booked under Exicse Regulation. The team comprised of Head Constables K.A Anandan, Sanjay Kujur, Police Constables Sameresh Mistry , S. Baroi, Chandran of P.S CCS.

The raid conducted by the staff of P.S CCS was supervised by of Mr. George Lalu, Dy. SP (CID) and under the overall supervision of Mr. Jatin Narwal, IPS, SSP (CID).

Andaman & Nicobar police is keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of Illegal Liquor and narcotics substance in these Islands. Meanwhile, public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling and any illegal activity on the telephone: numbers: 233307, 232586, 100 & 9474233832. The identity of the informant will be kept secret. A communication from Superintendent of Police (CID), Port Blair, A&N Islands said.
