CFNEU Organises Health and Nutrition Training Course

Port Blair, Dec 03: Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit (CFNEU), Port Blair organised a two day Orientation Training Course in health, nutrition and infant & young child feeding recently at Haddo, Port Blair. About 30 Anganwadi workers enrolled for the training course.
During the training, Demonstration Officer of CFNEU, Anil Kumar Dhiman sensitized the participants about low birth weight and nutritional requirements of adolescent girls, pregnant women & lactating mothers. He also explained the significance of early initiation of breast feeding, exclusive breast feeding for 6 months and continuing breast feeding for two years. He urged the Anganwadi workers to implement the training in their respective Anganwadi areas.
On the occasion, he also highlighted the causes, consequences, symptoms & prevention of Anaemia, Vitamin “A” deficiency, Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) and child malnutrition.
Preparation of low cost recipes like nutritious panjiri and kadoo halwa, was also demonstrated during the training. CFNEU operates under Food and Nutrition Board of Ministry of Woman and Child Development.
