Coast Guard Conducts Community Interaction Programme at Haddo

Port Blair, Mar 08: Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC), Port Blair in co-ordination with Indian Coast Guard Ship Vishwast conducted a Community Interaction Programme at Haddo on 07 Mar 19 with special emphasis to elucidate “Safety at Sea” campaign. The programme was attended by local fishing populace, representatives from Fisheries Department. During the event, the fishermen were briefed about various safety precautions to be adhered whilst operating at sea including use of safety equipment & gears and usage of DATs and techniques for survival. The fishermen were advised to carry all life saving equipment, boat registration papers including individual biometric ID cards.  Lecture on snake bite was also delivered by Ship’s Medical Officer amongst the fisher folk. Fishermen were appraised about the Tsunami data buoy and were advised to undertake fishing, keeping safe distance from sensitive equipment which is utilized towards safety of the coastal area. During the CIP the fisher community were also familiarized about the endangered species at the sea.
