Coast Guard Conducts Walkathon at Diglipur

Port Blair, Jan 21: As part of the 42nd Coast Guard Day celebrations, a walkathon was conducted by Coast Guard District Headquarters No-9 at Diglipur, at 0500 Hrs on 19 Jan 19 to create awareness on health benefits of exercise like walking, jogging and running on daily basis to local populace. The theme of walkathon was “Walking is the best exercises” and it started from Aerial bay to Keralapuram and back.
The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Jai Biswas, Chief Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Diglipur in the presence of Commandant L Zou, commander, No. 9 Coast Guard District Headquarters. The awareness drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of participants from family members of Indian Coast Guard personnel, fishing community and local residents also.
