Department of Science & Technology to organise an exhibition on ‘UDBHAV-A New Beginning’

Port Blair, May 27: The Department of Science & Technology is going to organise an exhibition on alternatives of single use plastics – ‘UDBHAV-A New Beginning’ on 29 and 30th May, 2019 in the auditorium of Govt. Girls Sr. Secondary School, Port Blair. The Secretary, Science & Technology, A&N Administration Ms. Nitika Pawar will inaugurate the exhibition at 11 AM on May 29. The objective of this exhibition is to sensitize the general public, students and business community about the harmful effects of plastic and to provide them with green alternatives of plastics so as to reduce the plastic waste generation which takes million of years to decompose.

To control plastic means there is need to educate general public and students about harmful effects of plastic and to motivate them not to use plastic items as far as possible, to prevent littering of plastic items and to help in maintaining the pristine beauty of our islands.

To spread the message “Say no to Single Use Plastics”, short film/documentary will also be screened on plastic related problems. The exhibition will be open for public from 11 AM to 7 PM on May 29 & 30, 2019.
