DGP lays stone for Cyber Forensic Lab

Port Blair, Oct 20: The Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr Dependra Pathak, laid the foundation stone for construction of a Cyber Forensic Laboratory at CID Complex here on Thursday. The Inspector General of Police, Smt Shalini Singh, Dy. Inspector General of Police, Mr Vimal Anand Gupta and other senior officers of A&N Police and APWD were present on the occasion.
In his address, the Director General of Police spoke about the importance of Forensic Science Laboratory in the overall Criminal Justice System. He lauded team of FSL, Port Blair for speedy examination of exhibits, training Investigating Officers and assistance rendered in examination of the crime scenes and collection of evidences. He also said that the facility of Cyber Forensic Laboratory will be an asset and add to the overall organizational efficacy of A&N Police. The laboratory will be used not just for examination of electronic evidences but also for capacity building of the investigating officers and promoting awareness related to cyber-crimes in the public, said the DGP A memento was also presented by Mr Dependra Pathak to the Superintending Engineer (PBCC), Mr A. Subramaniam. Earlier welcoming the gathering, The Superintendent of Police (CID), Mr Deepak Yadav, briefed about the existing set up of Forensic Science Laboratory in the city.
