Port Blair, Mar 06: Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration will organise a Media Workshop on 7th of March, 2019 in GB Pant hospital Auditorium, Port Blair to sensitise the local media about the upcoming National Immunisation Day (NID) round of Pulse Polio Immunisation programme. Government of India has decided to launch the National Immunisation Day (NID) round of Pulse Polio Immunisation programme on 10th of March, 2019.
On National Immunisation Day, Children in the age group of 0-6 years will be administered bivalent Oral Polio Virus (bOPV) at the Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) centres/booths in the islands. This exercise will be followed by house to house visit by the staffs of DHS on two consecutive days mop up rounds after the NID to ensure hundred percent vaccinations. All the local media organisations have been requested to attend the workshop.
