Port Blair, Feb 19: Dr. Pronob Kumar Sirkar today received “NCST Leadership Awards” from the Vice President of India Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu during a grand function in National Media Centre, Raisina Hill at New Delhi.
The award is conferred for significant and exemplary services towards Scheduled Tribes in the country by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). The awards is presented in the form of a citation, a medal along with an “Uttriya” and were given in 3 categories. Mr. Pronob Kumar Sirkar got this award in Individual Category, brining laurels for these Islands.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) is a constitutional body set up under Article 338A of the Constitution on 19th February, 2004.
