Elections 2019: Meeting-cum-awareness programme of all National and State level political parties held


Port Blair, Mar 11: A meeting-cum-awareness programme of all National and State level political parties was conducted on 11.03.2019 at 10.30 AM in the conference hall of DC Office under the chairmanship of Returning Officer, ANIPC. The Returning Officer said that the Election Commission of India has developed a portal named ‘SUVIDHA’ which Party’s representative, candidate and election agent can apply for various permission for election purpose. If the candidates find any problem in using the portal due to connectivity issues, a single window counter setup at Directorate of IP&T to provide all required permission involving all the officials of department at one place. Timely dispose of permission applications and it will be on first come first served basis. Political parties carry out any election related events only with taking prior permission.

As the date of election has already been declared and Model Code of Conduct came into force. Shri Yash Chaudhary, IAS(P), State Level Master Trainer (MCC) briefed about the Model Code of Conduct, the committee for Monitoring on Media certification (MCMC) approve the publicity material. Further, Shri Mohammed Ashraf, Assistant Expenditure observer explained about the various Legal Provisions under the RP Act, 1951 and conduct of Election Rules, 1961 which mandates upkeep of proper day to day account of election expenses in the prescribed Performa and submission of the account of the same for inspection as well as filing of account within 30 days of declaration of election results. The party functionaries were appraised that the ceiling prescribed for Election Expenditure for each candidate during GE 2019 for A & N Parliamentary constituency is Rs. 54 lakh.
