Port Blair, Apr 22: The District Administration has always taken strict action against the encroachment over the community land and public pathways. The Supreme Court in the case Jagpal and Others has also directed that the community assets should be protected from illegal encroachment in all possible ways.
In view of reports with regards to encroachment on public road leading to CAIRI at Garacharma, District administration under took the eviction drive lead by Mr. Casper James, Tehsil Port Blair. In the drive, encroachment in the shape of steps made on Govt. land by owner of Sunrise Hotel village Prothrapur have been evicted from Government Revenue Land bearing Sy. No.28 approximate 200 sqmtrs. have been cleared from encroachment. Also encroachment made by one Mr. Ravindar Lal was also removed by the team. It was ensured that the right of way for the CAIRI road is clear from any kind of encroachment so that public is not inconvenienced in any way
General public is hereby cautioned to refrain from such unauthorized activities and encroachments, including buying and selling encroached land. In case of any violation found, stringent action will be taken. In case any of fresh encroachments are noticed, the general public can inform the District Control Room on toll free no. 1070 & 03192- 238881/ 9434280018, in a press release Dy. Commissioner (SA) said.
