Entry age limit of 18 yrs, disappoints candidates: Recruitment of Pharmacists: Indian Pharmacist Association demands age relaxation

Port Blair, Oct 10: The health department under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has recently invited applicants from the eligible Pharmacist for filling up of 25 posts of Pharmacist.

The age criteria set for the male candidate is 18—33yrs and for females it is 18—38yrs. It is pertinent to mention here that vacancy of Pharmacist is lying under the Health Department since long and the last interview was held in the year 2009.

Since then many Pharmacist have crossed the age limit as the resent vacancy has appeared after a gap of almost 9yrs.

Moreover after +2, the candidates have to pursue atleast 2½yrs for diploma in pharmacy & 4½yrs for degree in pharmacy, and the basic qualification for the post of Pharmacist is Degree in Pharmacy /Diploma in Pharmacy with +2 in Science.

Under these circumstances the entry age limit of 18 yrs cannot be justified. These islands have sufficient unemployed Pharmacist, so the recruitment of Pharmacist under the DHS must be done from the local candidates only.

Keeping the above cited reasons, the Indian Pharmacist Association – IPA request the administrator – the Lt Governor Admiral D K Joshi to kindly consider the age relaxation for the recruitment of Pharmacist and recruitment of Pharmacist from the local candidates only, a communication received from Mr. Abhay Kumar National President IPA, Delhi.
