Excursion for Awareness on Medicinal Plants and Swachh Bharat by AYUSH

Port Blair, Oct 28: As a part of celebration of upcoming “3rd National Ayurveda Day on 5th November, 2018, a Medicinal Plant Excursion to Medicinal Plants Garden, Silviculture Division, Dept. of Environment & Forests, Nayasahar was organized by the Directorate of Health Services and A & N State AYUSH Society.
The trip was flagged off from JNRM campus by Dr. F.H. Hashmi, Associate Prof. and HoD of Plant Science, JNRM. The team of 90 students of JNRM led by Dr. Vivek Kumar Sahu, Asst. Prof. Zoology and PO (NSS Unit III) participated in the Excursion trip along with 50 staff members of AYUSH Hospital.
At the outset, Dr. Rajiv Ghosh welcomed the gathering; and the students were briefed about the identification, preservation, cultivation and uses of the medicinal plants by Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH), Dr. Rekha, Specialist (Panchakarma), and Dr. A. Sudarshan MO (Ayurveda).
The programme concluded with a talk on Health and Hygiene along with demonstration of hand washing technique given by Dr. Meena V. Natkar, MO (Ayurveda) to mark the occasion of Swachhata Pakhawada observed by AYUSH.
Mr. Biswas, Camp Officer and supporting staff, Silviculture Division, Nayasahar extended their whole hearted cooperation for smooth accomplish of event.
