Gambling Raid by PS Pahargaon & PS Bambooflat

Port Blair, Jan 29: The teams of police station Pahargaon and Bambooflat have busted gambling dens in their respective jurisdictions and total 09 persons have been arrested with recovery of more than 25 thousand rupees.
Upon receipt of information regarding gambling near Dharmraj Garage, Dollygunj, a police team of PS Pahargaon comprising of SI P.Jeevan, PC S N Pathak, PC Vijay Ram, PC Shaji & PC Santosh Yadav raided the place on 24/01/19 at Garacharma village and arrested 06 people involved in gambling. Rs. 20,130/- cash and a deck of playing cards were recovered from the possession of accused persons who were identified as (1) Suresh Mondal R/o Garacharma (2) Prasenjith Debnath R/o Junglighat, (3) Prashanto Debnath, R/o Junglighat, (4) Raju Debnath R/o Junglighat, (5) Isarul Sheikh, R/o Garacharma & (6) P Shree Hari, R/o Junglighat.
On the same day, a raid was conducted by HC Ram Nag, PC Debasis Roy and LHG(R)/510 LaxmiKantaof PS Bambooflatat Hope Town near Forest Hut and 03 persons were arrested namely 1) Mr. Vardharajan S/o Late Basudevan (60) yrs R/o Hope Town 2) Mr. K.PSurendaran S/o Late Padmanavan (60) yrs R/o Hope Town 3) Mr. LokBahadur S/o Late KhangeBahadur (33) yrs R/o Nayagaon, Port Blair and total Rs 7810/-were recovered along with a deck of cards.
Later on all the above 09 accused persons were challaned under section 5/7 of A & N Gambling Regulation 1956.
The South Andaman District Police is committed to eradicate all anti-social activities from the society and the teams of police station Pahargaon & Bambooflat have once again proved their commitment in this direction, as said in a press release by Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
