Grand Send-Off to Haj Pilgrims of Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Port Blair, July 29: The A&N Islands UT Haj Committee in association with A&N Islands Wakf Board and Jamiat-E-Ulema, A&N Islands organized a grand send-off function today at Hotel Mansha Regency for the Pilgrims of A&N Islands proceeding for this year’s Haj. Altogether 111 Haj Pilgrims including a Khadim-ul-Hujjaj are proceeding for Haj-2019 through the A&N Islands UT Haj Committee. The Hajis are scheduled to depart for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the designated embarkation point i.e. Chennai on 4th August 2019 at 0100 Hours.

Mr P. Sugendran, IAAS, Deputy Director Audit and Mr Shailendra Kumar Singh Director Social Welfare graced the function as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. In their address, both of them extended their best wishes for the Haj Pilgrims and also requested them to pray for the prosperity and welfare of the country particularly for the Islands. Earlier, the Chairman, UT Haj Committee Janab Gulam Hussain Cassim Jadwet welcomed the Hajis and other eminent guests and special invitees present. In his address, he thanked the A&N Administration for their co-operation and support extended to the UT Haj Committee. The President Jamiat-E-Ulema Maulana Sharfuddin Mufti talked about the brotherhood and peaceful coexistence of people belonging to a different religion, region and speaking different languages, he urged all present to protect this unique culture of the Islands. Janab T. Alvi, Ex EO, Maulana Abdul Haleem and other eminent Islamic Scholars also spoke on the occasion. The Port Blair Airport Director Jb Jameel Khaliq and the Indigo Manager Mr Sunit Thomas also graced the function. They also extended their best wishes for the Hajis and assured all possible help for their smooth journey. On this occasion,
