International Professional Engineers Certification

Port Blair, Dec 13: The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), established in India in 1920 and incorporated under Royal Charter in 1935, the largest professional body of engineers in India, and as mandated by International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) and being its full member, certify the Competence of Engineers by way of granting of International Professional Engineer Certification known as Int. PE (India) and maintain the India register of Int. PE.
International Professional Engineer Certification (Int. PE (India)) enables engineering professionals to advance their career aspiration in wide ranging ways. Gives confidence to employer/prospective employer about competency of Engineer in a particular domain, Enhances an engineering professional’s stature, Makes them suitable for higher levels of responsibility. With the growing economy and massive expansion of technological infrastructure and globalisation, the market demand of Int.PE certified engineers are expected to be much higher and would have a professional edge in employment. Int.PE Certification enables an engineer to become an independent engineering consultant, a valuer, a planner, a designer, an educator. The International Professional Engineers, registered with IEI, may receive credit when seeking registration or licensure in the jurisdiction of another member i.e this will facilitate an engineer in mobility across member jurisdictions.
The Basic Requirements for Certification as International Professional Engineer are Having Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent recognised by Statutory Authority or Government of India, Minimum 7 years, professional experience, Minimum 2 years, professional experience in significant engineering activity, Membership of recognised professional engineering institution / association, Maintained Continued Professional Development (CPD) at a satisfactory level.
The Assessment shall have the following parts:
1. Assessment of experience of at least 7 years in Engineering Practice. •
2. Evaluation of Continuing Professional Development by National Committee. •
3. Assessment of the Self Appraisal Report in prescribed format. •
4. Passing a structured two-level Online Assessment Examination (Qualifying Marks 60%) •
5. Assessment of competency by National Committee. •
6. Review the recommendation of NC by BFC for approval.
