Low Pressure area over North West Bay of Bengal & adjoining Odisha Coast

Port Blair, Dec 18: Yesterday’s Cyclonic storm ‘PHETHAI’ over west central Bay of Bengal crossed Andhra Pradesh coast close to south of Yanam (Puducherry) between 1330-1430 IST on 17.12.18. Moving further north-northeast ward it again emerged into West Central Bay of Bengal off Kakinada coast and weaken gradually into a deep depression around 1730 IST on 17.12.18. It again crossed Andhra Pradesh Coast close to Tuni during 1930-2030 IST on 17.12.18. Moving further northeast wards it weakens gradually and lay as depression over Coastal Andhra Pradesh around 2330 IST on 17.12.18. It weakened further into a well marked low pressure area over Northwest & adjoining West central Bay of Bengal and Odisha at 0530 hrs IST of 18th December, 2018 and further into a low pressure area over North West Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal Odisha at 0830 IST today, 18th December 2018.
Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely along & off Odisha coast and over northwest & adjoining west central Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours.
However in view of above low pressure system, the sea condition is likely to be rough over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea along and off West Bengal & Odisha Coast and over North West Bay & adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal on 18th December 2018.
