Massive procession and public meetings in support of Mazdoor Kisan Sangarsh Rally

Port Blair, Sept 05: To protest against the anti-working class and anti-kisan policies being pursued by the NDA government at the Centre, trade unions affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and All India Kisam Sabha, Mazdoor Kisan Sangarsh Rally was organized at Parliament Street New Delhi today in which lakhs of workers and farmers from different parts of the country participated.

In support of the Mazdoor Kisan Sangarsh Rally at New Delhi, workers in Andaman and Nicobar Islands conducted massive procession and public meetings at various parts of the islands under the banner of CITU. At Port Blair, the mass procession was taken out from Tiranga Park which, after making a round of the town, culminated at a public meeting at Tiranga Park. Addressing the public meeting, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee explained in detail the various anti-working class measures being carried out by the NDA government and said that almost all the beneficial labour laws are being amended to help the corporate houses. He said that prices are increasing day by day and referred to the daily increasing prices of petrol and diesel. Shri TS Sreekumar, General Secretary, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association said that none of the demands raised by the government employees’ organizations has been accepted by the government and said that government employees are preparing to launch nation-wide agitation. Shri BC Bhattacharjee, Secretary, CITU, Shri SP Kalairajan, Circle Secretary, BSNL Employees Union also addressed the meeting while Shri M. Boominathan, President, CITU A & N State Committee presided.

At Rangat, massive procession was taken out at Rangat Bazar by CITU in which large number of workers participated. At Baratang, workers took out procession at Nilmbur. At Campbell Bay, workers under the banner of CITU took out massive procession.
