Port Blair, Jan 17: Master Esow Alben, World No.1 Junior cyclist from Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been selected for the Bal Shakti Puraskar 2018(erstwhile National Child Award). This is for the first time in the history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands that a World Ranking Junior Cyclist has been selected for this prestigious award. The award will be presented by the President of India in a function to be held on 24th January, 2019 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. He will also be participating in full dress rehearsal and Republic Day Parade to be held on 23rd and 26th January, 2019 respectively.
Bal Shakti Puraskar (National Child Award) this year carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, a book voucher of Rs. 10,000/-, a medal, a certificate and a citation.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India has invited Master Esow alongwith his parents to receive the prestigious award from the President of India vide their letter No. 19/2/2016-CW-I dated 11.01.2019 from the Under Secretary to Govt. of India.
The Andaman and Nicobar Cycling Association, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs and Department of Education congratulated Master Esow for achieving this feat and making these islands proud.
