I express my warm greetings to all the Islanders on the occasion of “World Consumer Rights Day” on 15th March. It gives me immense pleasure to know that the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is celebrating World Consumer Rights Day 2019 in these Islands along with the rest of the world with the aim to promote basic rights of the Consumers and to ensure that these rights are protected and respected.
The theme of the World Consumer Rights Day-2019 is “Trusted Smart Products”. Consumer is the ultimate beneficiary as well as the judge of a product and his satisfaction is the goodwill earned by the Producer. I am happy to know that Department of CS&CA as vanguard and sentinel is continuously working for consumer protection in these Islands.
I call upon the people of these Islands to work together and participate in the celebrations in solidarity with consumer movement, update their knowledge about their rights as consumer on account of the changing technology and market trends and ensure the compliance.
I am sure that celebration of the “World Consumer Rights Day-2019” will help in raising the awareness level of consumer about their rights and remedies available.
I wish the celebration all success.
