Port Blair, Feb 08: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways was accorded sanction of Rs. 85.97 Crores to undertake 20 Nos works of this UT Islands under Central Road Fund. Out of which, an amount of Rs. 19.16 Crores released by the Ministry against the said works has been utilised and accordingly, the utilisation certificate has been also extended to the Ministry in the month of November,2018. Since then, the Administration was waiting for release of next stage payment under Central Road Fund. Since the matter was delayed, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray,M.P has taken the matter seriously and pursued the issue with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
In pursuant to that, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways finding satisfactory progress of works has released subsequent stage payment of Rs: 6.55 Crores from the Central Road Fund and the same amount has been transferred to APWD through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) to meet the expenditure against 20 works of this UT Islands sanctioned by the Ministry under Central Road Fund during 2015-16,2016-17 and 2017-18.
