‘Mitti Ke Rang’ – a group painting exhibition of Madhubani & Gond Art at Art Gallery & Studio

Port Blair, Mar 26: The Kala Kendra Society for promotion of Art & Culture is organizing a group exhibition titled “Mitti Ke Rang” showcasing Madhubani & Gond paintings by participants of workshop which was organized on 1ST March 2019 in collaboration with Lalith Kala Akademi, New Delhi at Art Gallery & Studio, Gandhi Park, Port Blair. Smt. Shalini Singh, IPS, IGP, A & N Police will inaugurate the exhibition on 27th March at 6.30 PM 2019.

Madhubani art is also known as mithila painting which is being practiced in the mithila region .The madhubani painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigment which is also characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns .There is ritual content for particular occasions, such as birth or marriage, and festivals, such as holi, surya shasti, kali puja, upanayana, durga puja.

Similarly, Gond art is a form of who are predominantly from Madhya Pradesh, but also can be found in pockets of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

The exhibition will remain open to the public till 25th April 2019 from 4PM-7PM on all days.
