Port Blair, June 06: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, wrote a letter to the Lt Governor wherein he has requested to the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to consider disbursement of monthly social pension of old aged widows, destitute, Physically challenged persons, who are about 20,000 in number, on the same date on which the Government employees are paid their salaries.
In his letter Mr. Sharma stated that a number of financial weaker and needy sections met him and informed him of the delayed payment of pension by 10 to 15 days every month and even at times they don’t get their pension for full month and due to such delayed and uncertain disbursement of pension these most financially weaker and needy section of society are to suffer a lot to meet their minimal requirement of livelihood.
