MV Karmatang develops technical snag; efforts to operationalize the vessels on

Port Blair, July 2: The vehicle ferry vessel MV Karmatang presently maintaining the scheduled services between  Chatham-Dundus Point and intermittent services between Chatham–Bambooflat, developed a sudden technical snag on the afternoon of 01st July 2019 following which the services of the vessel has been withdrawn immediately. Due to the above breakdown,  the vehicle ferry services  between Chatham and Dundus Point has been suspended till the services of the vessel MV Karmatang is restored or alternate vehicle ferry vessels which are under repair are operationalised.

 

The above withdrawal of MV Karmatang from services will also affect the vehicle services between Chatham and Bambooflat adversely, as only 02 vehicle ferry vessels would be available during the peak rush hour for services. The Directorate is making all efforts to operationalize the broke down vehicle ferry vessels on utmost priority.

 

In view of the above, the daily commuters of Dundus Point and Bambooflat are requested to plan their routine journey accordingly, so as to avoid last minute inconvenience. The inconvenience caused to passengers in this regard is regretted.
