National Maritime Day Celebration

Port Blair, Apr 04:  April  56th  marks the National Maritime Day of India. On this day in the year 1919 navigation history was created when “ SS Loyalty”, the first ship owned by M/s  Scindia Steam Navigation Company, journeyed from Bombay  to London, United Kingdom. The National Maritime Day was first celebrated on 05th April 1964.

The 56th National Maritime Day will be  celebrated in these islands along with the entire nation on 05th April 2019. The theme also adopted for the 56th National Maritime Day celebration is “100 years since SS Loyalty”, a release from DSS said here today.
