NCPCR advises public not to use Johnson Baby Shampoo until further update

Port Blair, May 20 (IP&T) The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi has informed that U/s 13 (1) (j) of the CPCR Act, 2005 it has taken cognizance of the news reports regarding safety issues related to use of baby care products (Shampoo and Talcum Powder) manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, an American Multinational Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical and Consumer Packaged Goods Company.

Samples of Johnson & Johnson Baby Talcum Powder and Shampoo were collected after following the due procedure and forwarded to NABL accredited Government Laboratory for testing and composition  of sample including the alleged presence of asbestos (in Talcum Powder) and Formaldehyde (in Shampoo) or any other hazardous chemical.

As per the report of the Government Analyst Drug Testing Laboratory, Jaipur, Rajasthan, the sample of Baby Shampoo was declared not of standard quality as presence of Formaldehyde in it was confirmed. As such consumers have been advised not to use Johnson Baby Shampoo until further update in the matter.
