Nicobar District Police organizes Dr. B.Srikanth Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament, Season-VIII

Port Blair, May 07: Nicobar District Police proudly organizes Dr. B.Srikanth Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament 2024, Season-VIII, in the memory of Late Dr. B.Srikanth, IPS, who served as the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District. The inaugural function took place at BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, Car Nicobar on 05/05/2024.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Group Captain Rajiv Dobhal VM(G), Station Commander, Air Force Station, Car Nicobar, who presided as the Chief Guest, and Sh. Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, who attended as the Guest of Honour. The occasion commenced with a heartfelt floral tribute to the Late Dr. B.Srikanth, IPS, followed by a solemn two-minute silence prayer in his memory. 

In his welcome address, Sh. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, extended warm greetings to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, spectators, and participating teams. He commended the collaborative efforts of Police Officials, Merchant Association of Car Nicobar, and other stakeholders in arranging the tournament at such short notice. He, further emphasized the importance of displaying exemplary sportsmanship, respect for officials’ decisions, and the spirit of fair play among the participating teams.

This season, a total of 27 teams have eagerly entered the competition, each vying for the prestigious Dr. B.Srikanth Memorial Cricket Trophy. The tournament kicked off with an exhilarating inaugural match between Small Lapathy Sporting Club and Mus-A team. Despite the scorching sun, a significant turnout of spectators witnessed a display of remarkable cricketing skills from both teams. Ultimately, Small Lapathy Sporting Club emerged victorious with a 15-run victory over Mus-A.

The Dr. B. Srikath Memorial Rolling Trophy Cricket Tournament 2024, Season-VIII, promises to be an exhilarating showcase of talent, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, honoring the legacy of late Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS while fostering community spirit through the love of cricket.
