Omnibus MoU signed with INTACH for holistic development of heritage sites in Isles

Port Blair, Sept 05: As part of the Administration’s ongoing initiatives towards protection, preservation and maintenance of heritage sites, the Department of Art and Culture has signed an Omnibus Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH). Shri Shubhankar Ghosh, Director (Art & Culture), A&N Administration and Shri Divay Gupta, Principal Director (Architectural Heritage Division) INTACH, Delhi signed the MoU on 5th September 2019. INTACH  is a premier organization well known for its restoration and conservation work all over the country. INTACH is named as a support agency in the Ancient Monuments, Sites & Remains Act, 2010. INTACH has successfully completed the restoration of many important landmark monuments of the country.

 

As a part of MoU, efforts will be made for the promotion, conservation, restoration and development of Cultural and Natural Heritage in UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Earlier, the Administration has requested INTACH, as a national expert body in Heritage Conservation, to assist the UT for preservation and development of Cultural and Natural Heritage within Union Territory (UT) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
