Port Blair, May 09: In order to make plastic free Port Blair, the Port Blair Municipal Council in association with the LIONS CLUB of Port Blair inaugurated the Reverse Vending Machine at the Marina Park on 8/5/2019. This is the first of its kind initiative wherein the machine has facilities like, drinking water, mobile charging, inbuilt plastic waste shredder and free donation along with LED Screen display to promote public awareness.
Secretary PBMC has appealed to the general public and tourists to contribute to phase out plastic from these pristine and serene Islands by dropping empty pet bottles in the machine so as to get services of potable purified drinking water, mobile charge and nearby future free coupons, in a release Secretary, Municipal Council said.
