Port Blair, Jan 08: It has been reported that huge amount of smoke was coming out from SCI tanker Sampura Swaraj berthed at Haddo jetty today. Such emission of dark smoke is naturally a serious threat to the ecology.
Sources said that it is the duty of Flag State Inspector (FSI) to check such pollutions from ship. MMD surveyor is the FSI in Andaman, it is learnt. As SCI officials never comment on such serious issues or meet local media, a comment in this regard could not be taken from SCI. Hope the Administration will surely take up the matter with SCI.
