Port Blair, Apr 30: It has been observed that many of the drivers and passengers of four-wheelers are driving their vehicles without fastening the seat belts which is a gross violation of Section 138(3) of CMVR,1989 and punishable u/s 177 MV Act, 1988. Numerous lives of passengers in four-wheelers have been lost in road accidents due to non fastening of seat belts which is an essential safety measure.
General public are requested that the driver and the person seated in the front seat or the persons occupying the front facing rear seats as the case may be, wear the seatbelts while the vehicle is in motion, failing which necessary action will be taken against the erring drivers as per MV law.
