Rotary Club of Port Blair felicitates Captain and Staff of M.V Coral Queen

Port Blair, Mar 11: Rotary Club of Port Blair  felicitated Captain. Rohit Mohan Lal and staff of M.V Coral Queen. Capt. Rtn. K. Mahajan(Retd) gave away the certificate of appreciation for maintaining cleanliness in the ship, to Captain Rohit Mohan Lal in presence of the ship staffs, at a simple function onboard the ship on 9th March, 2019. The programme was attended by President Shri. Rajesh Anand, Past Presidents Rtn. Ashok, Rtn. Dhinakaran, Rtn. Srawan,  Rtn. Dr.Dinesh and other members Rtn. Deepak and Rtn Rungta, The ship is kept neat and tidy, though it was inducted in the Islands about two years ago to ply between inter islands. The biggest achievement was that it is the largest carrying capacity ship which berthed at Diglipur. It has a carrying capacity of 455 passengers. She had evacuated tourists from Swaraj Deep(Havelock) many times during inclement weather conditions and had evacuated serious patients from other  Inter Islands also.

The ship had sailed to Barren Island for the glimpse of volcano as a part of Volcano Tourism and was appreciated by many tourists. It can carry 100 tonnes of cargo and is very punctual. It has very effective Air conditioning system and other amenities in the best of the condition. Offenders are fined Rs 500/- for paan spitting and Rs 100/- for smoking in public places. This is the best maintained ship in the Andaman Nicobar Islands and that is the reason why people love to travel in this ship. Rotary Club members had travelled from Port Blair to Hut Bay and back a couple of months back for a SCAW Project and were impressed by their hospitality and cleanliness. This is a part of Abhar programme of the club for the service offered to the society of our emerald Islands. Earlier the club had felicitated traffic police constable, fish vendor, teacher, doctor etc.
