N&M Andaman, Mar 14: A sensitization workshop on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)-Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in General Elections to Lok Sabha, 2019 was inaugurated by Additional District Judge, North & Middle Andaman, Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh in the Bar Office of the District Court Complex, Mayabunder on 14.03.2019 at 1.30 PM. It was attended by Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr. MrityunjayKarmakar; Assistant Returning Officer/AC(HQ), Mr. Mahesh Kumar Gupta; Advocates and other staff of the Court; PRI members and general public of the area.
The workshop was organized to aware all about the working of EVM-VVPAT and other technical and administrative safeguards put in line by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure free and fair conduct of election. It also aimed to instill confidence in the general public about the non-temperability, non-hackability of the EVM-VVPAT. A doubt clearing session was also conducted to remove any apprehensions about the vulnerability of the EVMs, said District Election Cell, N&MA in a communiqué.
