Sensitization Workshop on use of EVM/ VVPAT held in the High Court Complex

Port Blair, Mar 06: A Sensitization Workshop on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)/Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) in General Elections to Lok Sabha – 2019 was inaugurated by Justice Arijit Banerjee  and Justice Amrita Sinha on 5th March, 2019 in the High Court Complex here.  The workshop was organised for the key opinion makers about the use of EVM/VVPAT in the Election to guide the opinion of general public about the non-temperability, non-hackability and other safeguard put in line by the Election Commission of India to ensure free and fair conduct of election.  The Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands Sh. K.R. Meena delivered the welcome addressed to the Judges, Bar members and officials of the Court.

A similar programme was also conducted for the Principals, other faculties of the various colleges and the members of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industries on the same day in the auditorium of Tagore Govt. College, Port Blair.  The participants were briefed about technical and administrative safeguards put in line by Election Commission of India for the use of EVMs/VVPATs.  A doubt clearing session was also conducted to make these key opinion makers acquainted with the special features of EVM/VVPAT to ensure free and fair conduct of elections.
