South Andaman Police Cracks Down On Illegal Narcotics and Country Made Liquor

Port Blair, Mar 11: The teams of South Andaman Police has registered 4 cases of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and arrested 4 persons with around 4 Kg of illicit Ganja. Also, 2 cases under excise regulation have been registered with recovery of 570Kg Handiya and arrested two persons.

On 02.03.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team under the command of SHO Aberdeen, Insp. Sanjay Kumar, alongwith SI Jeevan, HC SS Yadev, PCs Nanak Singh, Jayanta Kr. Biswas, Suresh, Vinod Liniya, Aslam, Pushpa, Mini Tigga and Nandita Mistry conducted raid near Kali Mandir, Prem Nagar and recovered about 300 gm ganja from the possession of Ms. Twinkle Prakash D/o Late Inder Prakash R/o bird line, age 20 yrs.

Thereafter on 07.03.2019, on receipt of information 1.253 Kg Ganja was recovered from one Seikh Sulaiman R/o South Poin and 2.059Kg Ganja was recovered from one Tutul @ Seikh Murtaza r/o South Point.

Also, on the same day, another raid was conducted by special team of Police Station Pahargaon under the supervision of SHO Pahargaon, Insp. A.K. Singh along with ASI R. Radha Krishnan, PCs M. Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Prasad, Manoj Yadav, Susheela Kujur and Sunita Das in which 500gram of ganja was recovered from the possession of Chottu Mondal S/o Yacob Mondal.

On 09/03/19 a special drive was conducted in Brookshabad area by the team of PS Pahargaon consisting of ASI R. Radha Krishna, ASI K.R Murgeshan, PCs Khokan Dutta, Rajesh Prasad,Anima, Ashok Kumar & Manoj Yadav of PS Pahargaon under the command of Inspr A. K. Singh SHO Pahargaon. During the drive 02 cases against the sale of country made liquor (Handia) were registered with recovery of 570 Kgs and arrest of two persons namely Jogi Ram S/o Late Bichu Ram R/o Brokshabad and Shri Gumai Pahan S/o Late Dukiya Pahan R/o Brokshabad. This recovery of Handiya is the largest haul made by Police in years.

All these operations took place under the close supervision of SDPO (SA) Shri. Nishant Gupta under the overall supervision of Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
