Superintendent of Police (South Andaman) Visits Swaraj Dweep and Strait Island to Review Security and Election Preparedness

Port Blair, Mar 15: On 11.03.2019, Mr. Deepak Yadav, IPS, SP (D) SA visited SwarajDweep and had interaction with the owners and managers of hotels/restaurants and apprised them about the prevailing security situation in the country. All were informed that in view of the threats posed by the subversive elements, security needs to be beefed up in all hotels and restaurants.

All hotel/restaurant owners were advised to install various safety equipment such as access control equipment, baggage scanners, Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMD), Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD), CCTV Cameras, under vehicle scanners etc. They were also advised to maintain proper records of the tourists and fill C-forms for all foreigners. During the meeting, the importance of fire safety was also underscored and all hotel owners/managers were requested to get their premised audited by Fire department and install necessary fire safety equipment.

On 12/03/2019, SP (D) SA and SDPO SwarajDweep visited the Strait Island to review the security arrangement and Polling Station. Later, a meeting was held in the Police Station, SwarajDweep to assess the election preparedness and sensitise all Police officials about their duties during the elections, said Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District in a press release.
