Training imparted on organic fish farming by KVK, N&M Andaman

Port Blair, Sept 05: ICAR- KVK, N&M Andaman (CIARI) organized three days training on “Organic fish farming approaches for sustainable production” at Dharmapur under Sivapuram Panchayat. The training was inaugurated in presence of Mr. B. Vijayan, Panchayat Samity Member, Mr. K. V. Jobi, Member, Ms A. Geeta Kumari, Member Shivapuram Gram Panchayat, Dr.. B. L. Meena, In-charge, KVK, Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS (Fisheries) and participants. In the inaugural session Mr. B. Vijayan expressed that local administration is emphasizing to popularize organic farming practices in Islands and it is the need of hour for living healthy life. Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS (Fisheries) and Course Director briefed about the three days training programme and urged the participants to adopt organic fish farming for healthy farm produce on a sustainable basis. Experts of KVK and Dept. Of AH & VS had interactive sessions on different topics such as Scope for Organic fish farming in N&M Andaman, principles and practices, nutrient management options, organic farming under rice cum fish integration, organic fish farming under Integrated farming system, post harvest management and value addition, marketing of organic fish produce, practical on preparation of organic manure and bio-pesticides, analysis of water quality parameters demonstrated among particiapants.  Visuals and Film shows were also screened during the training programme and participants were supplied with inputs for farm use. Technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Mr. B. L. Meena, Dr. Parag Deori, SVO, Basantipur, Dr. Pooja Kapoor and Er. Prasant Pradhan. A total of 32 participants were benefitted from the training programmes. The training was organized under the supervision & guidance of Dr. B. L. Meena, In-charge, KVK and Dr. B. Gangaiah, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
