Port Blair, Mar 26: In view of the forthcoming General Elections on 11th of April in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, training was imparted to the polling parties of the three tehsils of Nicobars District at Priyadarshini Hall, Tamaloo Village, Community Hall, Kamorta and Community Hall, Gram Panchayat, Campbell Bay in Car Nicobar, Nancowrie and Great & Little Nicobar today.
The training of polling parties has been scheduled in three phases and the first of which was held today. The second phase of the training will be held on 1st of April, 2019 and the last phase is scheduled for 6th of April, 2019. The participants in the training were those officials identified for appointment as Presiding Officers and Polling Officers along with their reserves.
Apart from explaining the various aspects of conducting elections, participants of training session were also given hands-on training by Master Trainers with the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) as well as the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine, which will be used for the first time in General Elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
