Port Blair, Dec 09: Transport Department always strives to improve the Public Bus Transport Service Provided to the commuters to ensure that quality service is availed by the commuters.
A complaint was received from PRI members of Baratang regarding fall in performance of STS Unit Baratang. An immediate inquiry on the matter was conducted by deputing the Assistant Engineer, Ferrargunj and a detailed report was obtained. During the inspection, certain discrepancies/ lapses in the functioning and few constraints were noticed. Immediate actions have been taken to resolve the issues.
Two Technicians from Port Blair have been posted to STS Unit Baratang to strengthen the workshop. As an interim relief two buses are being sent to Baratang from Port Blair. The Junior Engineer, STS Baratang has been made the overall in-charge of the unit for the entire unit for all the operational matters. All the off road buses will be made operational under a strict time frame.
Regular and increment monitoring of the functioning of the unit are done by Senior Officers. Road maintaining agencies have been requested to undertake immediate repairs as the major reason in frequent breakdown in the extreme bad condition of roads.
