Port Blair, Oct 15: Table Tennis open Tournament for school children successfully concluded at YMCA on 15th Oct 2018. The tournament was organized by YMCA in association with Andaman Nicober Islands Table Tennis Association (ANITTA). PBMC, Chairperson Smti. Anusia Devi was Chief Guest and Home Minister Advisory Committee Member Mr. Vishal Jolly was Guest of honor in the event. Shuchay Singh of Carmel School and Shantanu Roy of NCS won the Winner and Runner-up trophy respectively in U-11 Category. B. Deepak of GSSS Garacharma and Masilamani of VKV won the Winner and Runner-up trophy respectively in U-14 Category. B. Murugan and B. Deepak both from GSSS Garacharma won the Winner and Runner-up trophy respectively in U-17 Category. Other guests who were present on the occasion were Vice President ANITTA, Mr. I. Khurana, Secretary ANITTA, Mr. Deepak Govind, Ex-President YMCA Mr. K.A. Jacob, Executive Member ANITTA Mr.Suparn Sunil Sridharan, both the Coaches of ANITTA, Mr. Anil Reddy and Mr. Sameer Roy, and P.E.T Mr. B. Gharami.
The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour were felicitated with a bouquet, the welcome address was offered by President YMCA, Mr.Biju Jacob. PBMC Chairperson in her speech appreciated the initiative taken by YMCA and ANITTA for nurturing budding players. Mr. Vishal Jolly in his brief speech emphasized the importance of sports in today’s society and extended his all possible support for promoting this game. The Ceremony was concluded with the vote of thanks, presented by General Secretary YMCA Mr.Anandaraj Edward.
